Elder College Writers’ Circle
Join us for a low-stress, fun, and supportive two-hour gathering designed for writers of all levels and backgrounds. Whether you’re just beginning or returning to your work, the Writers’ Circle offers a welcoming space to explore your voice and connect with others.
Each session includes engaging writing prompts, quiet time to write, and optional sharing in a respectful and encouraging environment. There is no pressure to perform—participants are invited to take part in whatever way feels most comfortable. The circle will emphasize community, curiosity, and creative play, with time set aside for conversation and connection.
Come as you are. Write what you can. Leave inspired.

Jennifer (JJ) Johnson
Bio:
Jennifer believes everyone has a story worth telling.
A writer and interdisciplinary artist, Jennifer spent over a decade inside the Canadian art world — as a gallery director, art advisor, and advocate for working artists.
She co-founded AP Creative Entrepreneurs, a forum supporting women working across creative fields, and has lectured at universities, colleges, and arts organizations across the country.
Jennifer publishes personal essays at Light of Hand on Substack and has completed writing residencies in France, Spain, and Greece.
She is currently at work on The Archivist, a narrative nonfiction memoir.
Jennifer also volunteers her time on Mondays at Elder College’s technology drop-ins. You may remember her!
Angela Rebrec
Bio:
ANGELA lives and works on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Kwantlen, Tsawwassen, Musqueam, and Stó:lō peoples. She is a multi-genre artist whose writing has been featured in EVENT, Vallum, The Antigonish Review, The Dalhousie Review, and various anthologies across North America.
Angela’s poetry films have earned recognition at the Barcelona International Film Festival, FilmmakerLife Awards, and Barbara International ShortFest, among others.
The recipient of Pulp Literature’s 2024 Magpie Award for Poetry, Angela has also been shortlisted for several competitions, including PRISM International’s Nonfiction Contest. Her 2020 collaboration with composer Mickie Wadsworth for ART SONG LAB is included in NewMusicShelf’s Anthology of New Music for Trans & Nonbinary Voices, Vol. 1.
Angela is passionate about fostering community in the literary arts. She is the founding and current president of the Delta Literary Arts Society, where she continues to inspire and support writers of all levels.
